NHL Prospects: Trouba and Girgensons

Two of the highest rated USHL players for the 2012 NHL Draft - Team USA defenseman Jacob Trouba and Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Zemgus Girgensons.

Girgensons led the Saints in scoring despite missing 11 regular season games.  He collected 55 points (24g, 31a) in 49 regular season games, including six game-winning goals.  The Riga, Latvia native was named captain of the Saints after helping the team win the Clark Cup last season.  He was listed as #18 by NHL Central Scouting's final rankings of North American skaters.  Girgensons is committed to play college hockey at the University of Vermont next season.

Trouba was the highest rated USHL player (#9) according the final rankings of North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.  He led all Team USA defensemen in USHL scoring with 18 points (4g, 14a) in 22 regular season games while posting a plus-eight rating.  Over his two-year USHL career, Trouba collected 25 points (7g, 18a) in 53 games.  He is committed to play college hockey next season at the University of Michigan.
