USHL Voices: The Future of the League

The 2012 NHL Draft was widely successful for the USHL as 28 players from the 2011-12 season were selected by NHL clubs. It was also a big weekend for the future of the League as nine players who are USHL prospects were chosen in the Draft.
In the first round of the NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames picked Mark Jankowski with the 21st overall pick. Last month, was the first-round pick of the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft. Jankowski will be the first player selected in the first round of the NHL Draft to continue his career in the USHL since Blake Wheeler spent the 2004-05 season with the Green Bay Gamblers after being selected fifth overall by the Phoenix Coyotes.
Adam Gilmour was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (98th overall). He was the first-round selected of the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.
Zachary Stepan was selected by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round (112th overall). He will play in the USHL for the Waterloo Black Hawks.
