Indiana Ice defenseman Matthew Krug has committed to play college hockey at Union College following his USHL career.

Krug recorded 11 points (2g, 9a) in 56 games this past season in the USHL with the Ice.  The Buffalo, New York native dished out two assists in his first game in the League, including an assist on the game-winning goal in the 4-3 overtime win against Cedar Rapids on October 1st.   His first career goal in the USHL was the game-winner in the 3-2 victory over Waterloo on January 6th.  He followed up with a two-assist performance the following evening in the 4-1 win against Youngstown.

The 6-2, 200-pound defenseman celebrates his 20th birthday next month.

Chicago Steel forward Theo DiPauli is another USHL player from the 2011-12 season committed to play hockey at Union College.  The school is located in Schenectady, New York and is a member of the ECAC hockey conference.  Union College advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four this past season for the first time in school history with a roster that included five USHL alumni – Ryan Forgaard (Tri-City Storm), Troy Grosenick (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Sam Coatta (Sioux Falls Stampede), Tyson Fulton (Waterloo Black Hawks), and Colin Stevens (Team USA).

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrated its 10th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2011-12.  With 28 picks during the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, 13 NHL draftees on its rosters this season, and 280 players already committed to NCAA Division I schools this season, the USHL has emerged as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.  For more information, visit us on the web at www.USHL.com or visit the League’s multiple social media platforms, including Facebook (www.facebook.com/ushlhockey), twitter (www.twitter.com/ushl), and YouTube (www.youtube.com/ushlinteractive).  Fans can also watch USHL action online all season long, live or on-demand via FASTHockey (ushl.fasthockey.com).
