Eamon McAdam named top goaltender of the tournament

The Waterloo Black Hawks traveled halfway across the world to compete in the 2012 Junior Club World Cup, and after reaching the tournament final Sunday, they leave Omsk, Russia with a silver medal.
The Sudbury Wolves topped Waterloo 2-0 in the championship game of the event. Josh Leivo scored on a breakaway 7:55 into the third period, pulling the puck to his forehand and sliding it past the left pad of Eamon McAdam. Just 35 seconds later, the Wolves struck during a power play as Frank Corrado’s wrister from the deep slot needled through traffic and into the back of the net.
The goaltenders kept the game scoreless for the first 40 minutes, in spite of three power plays for each side. Waterloo’s McAdam made the best single save in that time, turning away a shorthanded breakaway opportunity by Matthew Campagna at 13:45 of the second. Joel Vienneau, who made four appearances against the Hawks in 2010-2011 as a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks, was also equal to all of the shots he faced in the first two frames. He saved his best stop for the third, when he pounced on a rebound opportunity which Jake Horton sent toward the crease while the game was still scoreless three minutes into the period.
Waterloo concludes play at the Junior Club World Cup with a 4-2 record. Justin Kloos, Vince Hinostroza, and Taylor Cammarata led the Black Hawks with 6 points each. McAdam was named the top goaltender of the competition, picking up three victories in four appearances and stopping nearly 92% of the shots he faced.
